Southwest Photography
During my tenure at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO I became endeared with the aura of the Southwest; the light quality, the enduring history, the textures and most especially, the spiritualness present in the very air. These images were mostly made with b/w film in the 70’s and early 80’s while I was exploring the capabilities of capturing the very essence of the subject matter unique to the environment. My influences at this time were from a Minor White workshop and a workshop with Ansel Adams emphasizing tonal control. The Southwest, being my ‘second home’, I have returned several times as I plan to continue this odyssey.
