Art Photography

I turned to digital photography just a few years ago after three decades of being a black/white film photographer, and taught such during that span of time.  Although my favorite format was working with my 4x5 Linhof, most of the images I made over that period of time were with a Hasselblad in the 2 ¼ square format.  It was with that camera I became addicted to making images of the details in the environment – architectural, industrial, railroad, and nature.  With the fixed-plane digital cameras I find myself continuing that same source of imagery often shooting to know that I will later make it a square format.  Having been strongly influenced by Minor White, Brett Weston, Ansel Adams and Harry Callahan, I have also continued my love of the black/white with its inherent abstract quality to emphasize light, design, texture and tonality, however, I am finding that in some instances that the real subject of the image is color.  I know that one day I will return to 2 ¼ and 4x5 black/white film, but I will be scanning the negatives and as now, will use the computer capabilities primarily as darkroom techniques.
